Beverly boards, committees to meet
The village of Beverly will hold its January committee meetings at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The regular council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 16.
The Beverly Board of Public Affairs will meet at 5 p.m. Jan. 24.
All meetings will be held at the village office, 919 Mitchell Ave.
Marietta BOE to meet Monday
The Marietta City Schools Board of Education will hold its organizational meeting for 2013 at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the board of education office, 111 Academy Drive.
American Legion to hold shrimp dinner
American Legion Post 64, Eighth and Wooster Streets in Marietta, will hold a shrimp and beer dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. The cost is $10. There will also be dancing with 4 Hits & A Miss from 7 to 10 p.m. The cost for the dance is $4 per person. The event is open to the public.
Board of Elections to close three days
The Washington County Board of Elections will be closed January 9, 10 and 11 so the staff may attend a conference.

Civil War Roundtable to meet Jan. 17
The next regular meeting of the Civil War Roundtable of the Mid-Ohio Valley will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Campus Martius Museum, 601 Second St., Marietta.
George A. Hall, an author and historian from Parkersburg, will speak on the “Moccasin Rangers” and related incidents that followed the Civil War. The Moccasin Rangers were a loose-knit band of Confederate sympathizers organized largely in Calhoun, Webster and Braxton Counties in West Virginia to operate behind Union lines.
The event is free and open to the public.

Beekeepers’ group plans Jan. meeting
The Mid Ohio Valley Beekeepers’ Association will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Washington County Career Center. This will be the last meeting before the Honey Bee Expo 2013, which will be held Feb. 2 at the WVU Parkersburg Campus, with doors opening at 7:30 a.m. Guest are welcome at all meetings.
