FFA square dance will be held Saturday
The Marietta FFA January square dance will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday in the Washington County Junior Fair Building. The cost is $5 per person, $8 per couple or $12 per family.
Free throw contest at St. Mary School
The annual Marietta Knights of Columbus, Council #478, Free Throw Contest will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary School in Marietta. The event is free and open to all boys and girls ages 10 to 14. Winners at the council level advance to district competition in February.

Valentine dinner and dance for autism set
The third annual Valentine Dinner Dance for Autism will be held Feb. 9 at the Lafayette Hotel’s Grand Sternwheel Ballroom in Marietta. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6, a live auction at 7 and dancing at 8.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Aletha’s Florist at Second and Greene streets or contacting Nicole Vannoy at 373-5739. All proceeds benefit the Autism Center of Southeastern Ohio.
Community dinner at River of Life Church
A community dinner will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at River of Life Church, 200 Franklin St., Marietta. The menu will include homemade soups, breads and desserts.
Civil War roundtable will meet Thursday
The next regular meeting of the Civil War Roundtable of the Mid-Ohio Valley will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Campus Martius Museum, 601 Second St.
George A. Hall, an author and historian from Parkersburg, will speak on the “Moccasin Rangers” and related incidents that followed the Civil War.
The event is free and open to the public.

Legal advice clinic will be at St. Luke’s
The Washington County Bar Association and Southeastern Ohio Legal Services will hold its next free advice clinic from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 320 Second St., Marietta. Walk-ins are welcome. The clinics are for Washington County residents unable to afford legal representation (less than 187 percent of the poverty guideline).
