Bartlett man accused of touching girl
A Bartlett man has been arrested after a 14-year-old female recently came forward about an alleged incident of sexual misconduct two years ago.
Kevin A. Townsend, 32, of 2214 State Route 550, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of gross sexual imposition on a child under the age of 13, a fourth-degree felony, said Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks.
The child, who was 12 at the time of the incident, reported that while she was at his house in October 2010, Townsend had removed some of her clothing, touched her breasts and refused to let her leave the room, said Mincks.
“We received information from the Children Services Bureau and this was part of an investigation we worked together with them on,” said Mincks.
Townsend admitted to purposely grabbing the child’s breast after having sexual thoughts about her, he said.
“She wasn’t a stranger. He had met the girl before,” said Mincks.
It is not yet known if there are other victims or other incidents involving the same victim, he added.
“This one event is the only information we have available right now,” he said.
Townsend has previous convictions for domestic violence and aggravated menacing.
He is being held without bond at the Washington County until his arraignment today.
