World Day of Prayer event set for Friday

A World Day of Prayer event will be held Friday at St. John’s Evangelical Church, 312 Fourth St., Lowell. World Day of Prayer is an ecumenical movement of women and men of many faith traditions who come together each year to observe a common day of prayer. Registration will begin at 10 a.m., with the service at 10:30, and a light potluck luncheon will follow.

Civic groups needed for packing event

The Southeast Ohio Foodbank will hold its first Community Civic Group Commodity Food Packing Event Saturday. Area organizations are asked to participate.

Volunteers are essential to the Southeast Ohio Foodbank, a program of Hocking-Athens-Perry Community Action, which provides food and other items to member agencies in 10 counties: Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton, and Washington.

The packing event will be from 9 a.m. to noon. The goal is to pack 2,000 commodity supplemental food boxes that go out each month to 4,000 seniors. To participate call Teresa Cline-Scurlock by Wednesday at (740) 385-6813 or email her at tcline-scurlock@hapcap.org.

PTO will hold bingo in school cafeteria

The Waterford Elementary PTO will sponsor a bingo featuring Thirty-One bags filled with theme items from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Waterford Elementary School cafeteria. Doors open at 1 p.m. Advance tickets are 20 games for $20. The price at the door is 20 games for $25. There will be raffles and concessions including desserts and drinks

Soup supper includes hot dogs and dessert

Sand Hill United Methodist Church in Reno will hold a soup supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. The menu will include a variety of soups, hot dogs, dessert and a beverage. A free will offering will be taken.

Scalloped chicken dinner will be served

The Beverly Eagles will hold a scalloped chicken dinner at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The cost is $7 and includes dessert. For carry out call 984-4733.
