Marietta income tax filing deadline April 15
Monday, April 15 is the deadline for filing and paying 2012 Marietta City Income Tax Returns and 2013 Declarations of Estimated Tax with first quarter payment. First Quarter 2013 Business Withholding payments and 2012 Employer’s Reconciliation of Tax Withheld are also due.
The current tax rate of 1.7 percent on all earned income applies to all businesses located in the City of Marietta doing business within the City and to all individuals 18 years of age and older who live or work in the City.
Annual returns must be accompanied by W-2 forms and/or Federal Schedules reporting profit or loss on business or rental income.
Individuals who work for businesses in the City that withhold city tax from their wages do not need to file unless one has another source of income or has an active account with the department from the previous year. Extensions for filing granted by the Internal Revenue Service will be honored by the City Tax Department if notified by April 15. A copy of the Federal Extension is required.
Any tax liability remaining unpaid after it becomes due will be subject to penalty and interest.
