Lawyers honored by state bar association

COLUMBUS – The president of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) will visit Marietta on Wednesday, April 3, to honor senior lawyers and to speak to area attorneys about current issues facing the legal profession.

Marietta residents Jerry A. Brock and Donald L. Jones, and Athens residents Gerald A. Mollica and Judge Edward S. Robe will be honored for their 50 years in the practice of law.

Judge Patrick F. Fischer, 2012-2013 OSBA president, will address the annual luncheon meeting of OSBA District 17 at The Lafayette Hotel (101 Front St., Marietta). OSBA District17 includes 197 members who practice in Athens, Hocking, Meigs, Morgan, Noble and Washington counties.

James D. Sillery, District 17 representative on the OSBA Board of Governors, will preside over the noon meeting, which will include the election of one member to the OSBA Board of Governors and one member to the OSBA Council of Delegates. Timothy C. Loughry, president of the Washington County Bar Association, will deliver welcoming remarks.

After the noon luncheon meeting, an optional 2.5-hour continuing legal education (CLE) seminar will be offered from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Registration and continental breakfast will begin at 11:30 a.m. Advance seminar/lunch registration is $95 for OSBA members and $115 for non-members; seminar- only registration is $70 for members and $85 for non-members; lunch-only registration is $25 for members and $30 for non-members. After March 27, $25 will be added to the total registration fee.

Scots launches rewards program

VIENNA, W.Va. – Scots Landscape in Vienna recently announced plans to launch a customer rewards program for their ever growing customer base in the Mid-Ohio Valley and surrounding region. Once in the program, members will be provided with members’ only discounts and access to private sale events. The program is called Scots Member Rewards and individuals can sign up at the Scots Garden Center in Vienna or on the company’s website.

Despite the fact that similar programs are typically only offered by much larger retailers, Jamie Witkosky, an owner in the Scots organization, believes that this is something her customers will find very beneficial. “We have 30 years of loyal customers who depend on us to provide quality lawn and landscape materials, and with the media industry getting more and more fragmented every day, getting information about special events out to them can sometimes be challenging. That’s where Member Rewards really helps,” she said. “Because we will be able to get know our customers a little more closely through the Member Rewards simple signup process, we will be able to make sure that we can connect with them about topics that interest them,” she continued.

According to Witkosky, plans are to communicate through the Member Rewards program at least monthly. Details on the program can be found at
