MMH volunteers plan Easter bake sale day

The Marietta Memorial Hospital Volunteers will hold its annual Easter Bake Sale Day Friday in the lobby outside the hospital cafeteria and private dining room. The bake sale will feature freshly baked pies and cookies, homemade noodles and candy. Proceeds from the event benefit various projects throughout the hospital.

Movie on birders will be shown at refuge

A free viewing of “Birders: The Central Park Effect” documentary will be held at the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The movie will be shown at Refuge Headquarters, 3982 Waverly Road, Williamstown. The Friends of the Ohio River Islands NWR will be sponsoring the event.

Earth Day classes for youth at library

The Marietta branch of the Washington County Public Library will offer Earth Day Youth Arts & Crafts for those ages 7 to 12 on April 13. The class will start at 1:30 p.m. Registration is required and limited to 20. To register, stop by the Youth Services department or call 373-1057, Ext. 219. The Marietta location of the Washington County Public Library is located at 615 Fifth St.

Agency on Aging council meets Friday

The Regional Advisory Council for the Area Agency on Aging will meet at 10 a.m. Friday in the Buckeye Hills-HVRDD Area Agency on Aging office in Marietta.

Sardis VFD’s annual fish fry ends Friday

The Sardis Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual fish fry every Friday now through March 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the fire hall. There will be fresh coleman fish sandwiches and fish sandwiches dinners that include coleslaw and french fries. Homemade pie, cookies, brownies and other desserts can also be purchased. Takeout, dine-in and limited delivery is available.

Newport church plans Easter event Saturday

Newport Baptist Church, on Green Street in Newport, will be hosting an Easter EGGstravaganza at 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be a traditional egg hunt, along with game booths and prizes. There will be tasty treatsand an object lesson celebrating that the “Tomb is Empty, Jesus is Risen.”
