Troopers take on girls volleyball team

Troopers from the Marietta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol will take on the Marietta High School girls volleyball team in a match at 10 a.m. Friday at the high school. The cost for admission is $1 and the event is open to the public. Proceeds will be split between the high school Key Club and Operation Feed, which will distribute food to local food pantries.

Cleanup in Decatur Twp. is planned

Decatur Township will have Dumpsters at the township building Thursday and Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and April 20 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appliances free of freon and old mattresses will be accepted. No contractors’ supplies or hazardous materials will be accepted. Also, township employees will soon begin to remove winter flowers from township cemeteries.

Frontier BOE?meets on Thursday

The April Frontier Local school district Board of Education meeting is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Thursday in the Frontier High School cafetorium.

History presentation at Cutler Center

Scott Britton, executive director of the Castle, will be the guest speaker at the “Third Thursday History Series” at the Cutler Community Center, 4550 Two Mile Run Road, at 7 p.m. Thursday. He will be presenting on local Civil War history including USCT’s (U.S. Colored Troops) involvement in the war. The event is free and open to the public. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from the canteen.

WSCC trustees will meet on Monday

The Washington State Community College Board of Trustees will meet for their monthly meeting at 4 p.m. Monday in the Center for Business and Technology on campus.

Master Gardener program is offered

A class offered from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday will teach participants how to prune for maximum flower potential, minimize disease and make great shapes in a landscape. The Ohio State University Master Gardeners will review tools, techniques and information needed to do the best job. The class will also include a walk outside to try pruning. The session will take place at the OSU Extension Office, 202 Davis Ave., Marietta and will be held rain or shine. The cost is $15, which includes a garden tool and handouts.
