Warriors down Blue Devils, 5-4
VINCENT – Warren earned a bounce-back win, edging visiting Gallia Academy, 5-4, in Southeastern Ohio Athletic League baseball action in Vincent Tuesday.
On Monday, the Mark Farr-coached Warriors (8-8) suffered a 9-0 setback to Parkersburg South in a non-conference game at Hank Greenburg Field in Parkersburg.
Lance Schafer’s solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning proved to be the game winner for Warren. David Ryan drove in three runs, and Gunnar Smith had a sac fly.
Righty Danny Pannell pitched a seven-inning complete game victory for the royal blue and white nine. He scattered 10 hits, walked two, and fanned two, both in the final inning.
Justin Bailey was the losing pitcher for the Blue Devils (18-3, 7-1), who suffered their first league defeat.
Offensively, Jimmy Clagg stroked three singles, and Bailey added two hits.
Warren staked itself to a 1-0 first-inning advantage on hits by Ethan Estes and Garrett Kennedy and walks to Smith and Ryan.
The Warriors made it 2-0 in the third on Smith’s sac fly.
In the fourth, Ryan drove in two runs to stretch the lead to 4-0.
Gallia rallied, though, with single runs in the fourth and fifth, and then tied the game 4-4 with two in the sixth.
In the bottom half of the frame, Schafer homered as Warren regained the lead.

VINCENT? – Warren clinched the SEOAL championship with a 12-2 mercy win of visiting Gallia Academy Tuesday.
Against the Blue Angels, Warren hurler Kaylee Higgins both pitched and batted her team to victory.
On the hill, Higgins allowed just four hits, and at the plate, she was 3 for 3.
Offensively for the Lady Warriors, Hailey Murdock had three hits, including a double and triple, and drove in three runs.
Riley Benson also had three RBIs, and Kendra Lynch stroked two doubles and drove in a run.
Brandi Douglass was 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs.
The Rachelle Pallini-coached Lady Warriors (14-2, 7-0) are slated to play host Chillicothe in an SEOAL game today.
