May is time to recognize older Americans

The O’Neill Senior Center, often referred to as the O’Neill Center, is a nationally accredited, not-for-profit multipurpose senior center that has been privileged and honored to serve this area’s older adults for more than 27 years, helping them live healthy, independent and productive lives.

The O’Neill Center is not your stereo-typical senior center. Like a magnet, the center attracts seniors of all ages. It is a popular gathering place because of the multitude of enriching recreational, educational, and social opportunities it provides. Those who participate notice an improvement in overall quality of life. For active older adults, the O’Neill Center offers art & craft classes, health-promotion seminars, exciting trips and tours, fitness activities, social opportunities, workshops and seminars, and computers with internet access. O’Neill Center is a focal point for information and aging services for seniors in need throughout Washington County. It offers an Adult Day Center, Medicare Part D Assistance, Homecare Services, Health Screenings, Prescription Assistance, Assisted Transportation, Social Services, Information and Referral, Benefits Enrollment and more.

Another service the O’Neill Center offers is Medicare assistance for those who are new to Medicare, or will be in the near future. The skilled and knowledgeable staff is up to date on Medicare and just a phone call away, ready to empower seniors with knowledge to make well-informed decisions. Phone the O’Neill Center at (740)373-3914 to talk to a counselor and set up an appointment to discuss your Medicare options.

O’Neill Center is funded in-part, by the Washington County Senior Services Levy, Ohio Department of Aging through Buckeye Hills Area Agency on Aging, United Way of Washington County, Mid Ohio Valley United Way Alliance, and generous contributions from many individuals and businesses.

As we enter the month of May, which has been designated as Older Americans’ Month, please join the O’Neill Center in recognizing the contributions of our older citizens. When you have an aging related need or just want to be around others with similar interests, consider the O’Neill Center.
