Waren Twp. Fishing Derby on June 1

The 12th annual Warren Township Fishing Derby will be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 1 at Inman Liberty Park, located behind the Warren Township building on Coffman Road. Anglers of all ages are invited to participate. They must bring their own equipment. Children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone 16 and older must have a current Ohio fishing license. Prizes will be awarded for largest fish in each age category. Two catfish per person may be kept. Food will be served by the township fire department auxiliary.

Electric co-op plans outages next week

To accommodate an Ohio Department of Transportation road repair project on Ohio 574 near Seneca Lake, Washington Electric Cooperative will have a planned outage in the area of Ohio 574, County Road 65 and Briar Hill Estates beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and lasting until 11:30 a.m. each day.

Democratic women meeting Thursday

The Washington County Democratic Women will hold their monthly meeting Thursday at the VFW on Pike Street in Marietta. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the meeting starting at noon. Current issues and legislation will be discussed. Final plans for the June picnic will also be shared. All Democratic women in Washington County are invited to attend.

Library roof repair bids to be discussed

The Washington County Public Library Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting to discuss bids for the main library roof repair at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the main library meeting room, 615 Fifth St., Marietta.

The library Facilities & Technology committee meeting will be at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the meeting room.

The library Personnel committee meeting will be at 5 p.m. in the meeting room.

The Washington County Public Library Board of Trustees regular meeting will be at 4 p.m. June 19 in the Barlow branch library meeting room, 45 White Oak Professional Center, Vincent.

The Switzerland of Ohio Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at 304 Mill St., Woodsfield. The purpose of the meeting is discussion of 2013-2014 district athletics, approval of memorandums of understanding with OAPSE and SOEA and approval of a five-year forecast. The board may also consider any other business deemed necessary.
