Roast beef dinner at Pike Street VFW

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5108 at 319 Pike St., Marietta, will hold a roast beef dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. The cost is $7 per person.

Road will be closed to replace bridge

Washington County Road 14 (Archers Fork Road) will be closed beginning Tuesday for the replacement of the Archers Fork Bridge, located just east of Ohio 26 in Lawrence Township. The project is expected to be complete by Aug. 26.

Free, anonymous HIV testing available

Free, anonymous HIV testing will be done from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Washington County Health Department, 342 Muskingum Drive, Marietta. Call ahead for an appointment at 374-2782, Ext. 1021.

Fearing VFD will host annual social

The Fearing Township Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual ice cream social starting at 4 p.m. Saturday at its fire station at 1975 Stanleyville Road, Whipple. Baked steak or chicken dinners will be served. There will be ice cream, a country store, bingo, music by Big D Karaoke and more.

Pancake breakfast at Applebee’s Saturday

There will be a pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Applebee’s in Marietta. All proceeds will benefit the Marietta Morning Rotary’s literacy program. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased from any Morning Rotarian or at the door. The Rotary Club is also collecting any new or used children’s books for the Boys and Girls Club and books can be dropped off at the breakfast.

Local church plans basement, bake sale

A basement and bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Faith United Methodist Church, 503 Seventh St., Marietta. The church will hold a free meal and clothing giveaway from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 15.

Monthly auctions will benefit local heroes

Peddler’s Junction in Belpre will be holding monthly Veterans Appreciation Auctions on the first Tuesday of each month. All profits from every auction will be donated to local charities benefiting local heroes who have served. For information: 401-1113.
