O’Neill official promoted to executive director
Connie Huntsman has been named executive director of the O’Neill Center in Marietta, filling the post held by Terry Zdrale since 1992, according to a news release from the center’s board of directors Tuesday.
Zdrale’s final day at the center is July 1. She and her husband plan to move to Denver, Colo., to be closer to their daughter.
“I’m honored to have worked with Terry for the last 16 years. She’s been a driving force for the center for many years,” Huntsman said. “It’s a pleasure to have worked with and learned from her.”
Joanie Washburn, president of the O’Neill Center Board of Directors, said Huntsman was unanimously appointed to the executive director position during Monday’s annual board meeting.
“Connie has been with the organization for 16 years and has worked in many different areas of the organization. She is very involved with senior services, the Washington County Senior Services Levy and most recently the operational activities of the center,” she said.
“We are pleased with the succession plan that Terry has developed,” Washburn added. “The O’Neill has outstanding leadership and staff and we are confident that the team in place will continue to provide excellent service to seniors in the community.”
Huntsman was appointed interim executive director earlier this month after Zdrale announced her resignation.
“I really don’t consider this a job,” Huntsman said Tuesday. “I’m fortunate to be working for an organization that I believe in and get paid for it. This center means so much to the community.”
Huntsman and her husband, Greg, reside in the Newport area.
Hunstman will officially assume the O’Neill executive director position July 2.
