Food pantry director says ‘God bless ye’
There is only one purpose of this letter to the editor and it is to thank Marietta and Washington County residents for their generous support of the Gospel Mission Food Pantry over the weekend. Because of you, the GMFP continues on!
Thursday was a sad day as we walked into a near empty food pantry. Equally tough was having to tell those who came in for emergency food early Thursday, “We have nothing to give you right now.” But I can never remember three better days in my life than Friday, Saturday and Sunday! At times we had four and five cars or trucks lined up outside the pantry doors in order to drop off food. Our volunteers worked hard re-stocking shelves and we are almost ready for Wednesday, our main distribution day.
For so many folks in Washington County, life is about helping others. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday so many of you stepped up to the challenge presented by empty food shelves. In the name of those whom we feed, I say thank you.
“Thanks” is such a small word … just six letters! But this small word is the most meaningful word I can ever offer. Thanks!
God bless ye.
