L-A Fire and Rescue plan social July 20
The L-A Fire and Rescue Association will hold an ice cream social beginning at 4 p.m. July 20. There will be hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, Coney dogs, sloppy joes, cole slaw, drinks, desserts and McKitrick’s homemade ice cream. There will also be a raffle, country store, bingo, games for children and a hay ride.
Anyone who would like to make a cake or pie donation, or a donation to the Country Store, can call Kay Worstell at 984-2412. Pies or cakes should be dropped off by noon July 20. I

Refuge will hold tree adventure for kids
The Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge will hold a “Tree-mendous Adventure” for children ages 6 to 15 at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The program will include a hike though the forest in addition to activities about forestry, tree aging and leaf identification. A water bottle, bug spray and closed toe shoes are strongly recommended. The free program will be held at the visitor center located at 3982 Waverly Road in Williamstown and is approximately two hours long. This is a family activity and a parent or guardian is required to be present. In the event of bad weather the program will be canceled.

Rabies shot clinic for dogs and cats
A rabies vaccinations clinic for dogs and cats will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. July 13 at the Washington County Health Department, 342 Muskingum Drive, Marietta. The cost is $7 per animal. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in carriers. All animals must be at least 12 weeks old.

All women invited to 4-H camp July 12-14
Washington-Morgan Counties Women’s Camp invites all women 18 and older regardless of residence to the 2013 Women’s Camp at the Hervida 4-H Camp in Waterford. The camp will held from 4 p.m. July 12 to 1 p.m. July 14.

Church offers free lunch to community
First Presbyterian Church of Marietta, Wooster and Fourth streets, will hold a free lunch for the community from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 23.
