Rising country music stars at Interstate Fair

MINERAL WELLS, W.Va. – A number of rising country music stars will be featured during the 2013 West Virginia Interstate Fair and Exposition, which opens Tuesday and runs through July 20 on Butcher Bend Road near Mineral Wells.

The fair will feature five days of entertainment, activities and attractions, including track events for ATVs, trucks and tractors as well as carnival rides and games for all ages.

Admission is $9 per day, while a three-day pass is $20 and a five-day pass is $30. There are also a couple of special admission days. Senior Citizens Day is Tuesday when all seniors ages 60 and over are admitted free.

Armed Forces Day is Thursday when active military personnel are admitted free with an active duty or active reserve duty military ID.

Reserved seating for the week’s concerts is $5 by calling the fair office at 304-489-1301. This year’s entertainment lineup includes The Henningsens at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday; Chris Janson at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday; Thomas Rhett at 8:30 p.m. Friday; and Greg Bates at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Several local and regional entertainers will be featured during the week as main stage performers and as openers for the headline acts, including Mahkayla Queen, Taylor Sams, Bowyer Drive and Chase Liken

In addition to live entertainment nightly, there will also be track events each day, including ATV drag racing, ATV and vehicle mud bogs and truck and tractor pulls.

A variety of livestock events will also be featured throughout the week, along with many different traditional fair activities and competitions.

Carnival rides will be open each day, from 4-11 p.m. Tuesday and from 1-5 p.m. and 6:15-11 p.m. each day from Wednesday through Saturday. Rides are free with daily tickets, which must be presented at the carnival ticket stand for a ride stamp. Membership and multi-day passes must be presented along with $4 for a ride stamp.
