Legion Relay team plans spaghetti meal
The American Legion Post 64 Relay for Life team will have an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday. The cost is $8. There will be spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and dessert.
Christmas in July in Barlow area Fri., Sat.
The Barlow Area Christmas in the Village will hold a Christmas in July event Friday and Saturday. Bargains will be offered at The Village Crafts & Decor in Little Hocking, Dunham Square on Ohio 339, Hickory Grove Market, the Silver Moon Diner, White Oak Pharmacy and Seamans General Store. At the Barlow Library, there be 20 vendors and a tag sale from 9 to 3 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Flushing of water systems planned
The fire/water departments will be flushing the water distribution system on Marietta’s west side next week, starting Tuesday. Affected areas are: Harmar Hill, Ohio 676 to the Washington County Career Center, Gilman Street to Oak Grove, Oak Grove. Areas adjacent to the above noted areas are also included.
For problems with discolored water, flush your cold water spigot for 15 minutes or until the water clears up. Persistent problems should be reported to the water plant at 374-6864.
Marietta FFA, alumni tug pull is Saturday
The Marietta FFA and Alumni Tug Pull will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Concessions are available.
‘Be a Biologist for a Day’ program for kids
The Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge will hold a “Be a Biologist for a Day” program for children ages 6 to 15 at 1 p.m. July 24. The program will include a wildlife hike, a science experiment, live turtles and more. A water bottle, bug spray and closed toed shoes are recommended. The free program will be held at the Visitor Center located at 3982 Waverly Road in Williamstown and is approximately two hours long. This is a family activity and a parent or guardian is required to be present. In the event of bad weather, call or check the refuge’s Facebook page to find out if the program is canceled.
