Reno VFD ice cream social Saturday
The Reno Volunteer Fire Department ice cream social will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday behind Pioneer Chevrolet on Ohio 7. There will be food, games, a country store and entertainment. Those attending should bring their own lawn chair. Monetary donations may be sent to P.O. Box 346 Reno, Ohio 45773.
Aging Council hosts Medicaid program
The Regional Aging Advisory Council will host an “Understanding Medicaid Estate Recovery” program at 10 a.m. Friday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 312 Franklin St., Marietta. The AAA8 Regional Advisory Council (RAC) presentation will provide information for use in longterm care and estate planning. The guest speaker is Robert J. Byrne, assistant Ohio attorney general. Portion of Ohio 339 closing for project
Beginning today, a portion of Ohio 339 will be closed for up to four weeks to allow crews to replace a bridge beam on U.S. 50. The Ohio Department of Transportation’s official detour is U.S. 50 to Ohio 550 to Ohio 7.
Trillium Piano Trio Concert Friday
The Trillium Piano Trio Concert “Swing Is The Thing” will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at The Castle in Marietta. For reservations call 373-4180. Individual tickets for one concert are $15 for adults or $10 for students. Conversations about the composers and their music as well as refreshments are included.
Volunteers sought for River Trail work
Friends of River Trail groups are being asked to organize work parties for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Some issues along the trail include weeds growing close to or over the trail, overhanging branches, poison ivy and objects such as dead limbs that could be hazards to trail users.

County garden club to meet Friday
The Washington County Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. Friday at the Pinehurst Christian Church on Ohio 550. The topic for discussion will be the Washington County Fair Flower Show. A potluck lunch will follow the meeting.
