Meet & greet for potential volunteer firefighters
Washington State Community College will host a meet & greet from 6 to 9 p.m. today for regional residents interested in serving their communities as a volunteer firefighter.
WSCC is in the process of establishing a new Fire Training Program at the Center for Public Safety Training. The meet & greet will give interested parties a chance to meet with local volunteer and career firefighters and learn more about the new program. The event will be held at the Center for Public Safety Training on WSCC’s campus.
Thrift store holds
The thrift store of the Western Washington County Food Pantry, 18 High St., Vincent, will hold a $2-a-bag sale through Aug. 29. School supplies will be passed out on Aug. 15 for Warren Local students. Hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 1 to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Wall of Sound show at 1:30 p.m. Sat.
The Marietta Wall of Sound Marching Band will perform its 2013-2014 competition and half-time show along with music from this upcoming season at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Don Drumm Stadium. The event is free and open to the public. Water and bake sale items will be sold.
Back to School Bash 5 to 7 Wednesday
A Back to School Bash will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Belpre Heights United Methodist Church, 720 Clement Ave. It will be the last hot dog, chip and drink dinner on the front parking lot of the church for this summer. The event is free and open to the public. Children can bring water guns to play with.
Saturday at Post 64
A ballroom dance will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion, Eighth and Wooster streets, Marietta, with Sandi Elam, ballroom DJ. Dress is dressy casual. The cost is $25 per couple. Those attending may bring food but must buy drinks.

Library committee at Buckley House
The Washington County Public Library Facilities and Technology committee’s next meeting will be at noon Wednesday at the Buckley House, 332 Front St., Marietta.
