Congressmen will give presentation
Congressman Bill Johnson will be joined by Congressman Phil Roe of Tennessee from 8:40 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday for “Affordable Care Act: What YOU Need to Know,” a special presentation geared towards area medical professionals regarding the Affordable Care Act, hosted by Heartland Rehabilitation Services and the Memorial Health System. The program will be held at Heartland of Marietta, 5001 State Route 60, Marietta. Following the discussion there will be a question and answer session, concluding with a brief tour of the facility.
Benefit breakfast at Marietta Applebee’s
A pancake breakfast benefiting the Marietta Shrine Club will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Sept. 7 at the Marietta Applebee’s. The cost is $5. Tickets will be available at the door or in advance by contacting Ray at 629-5581.
Registration required for library programs
Registration is under way at the New Matamoras Library for the fall Toddler Time and Story Hour programs. Toddler Time is an interactive program for children ages 2 and 3 and their parent/caregiver. Story Hour is intended for children ages 4 and 5. Both programs feature stories, crafts, creative play and music. Programs will begin Sept. 4. Registration is required by calling 865-3386.
Demoratic women’s committee will meet
The Washington County Democratic Women’s Action Committee will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday at the VFW on Pike Street in Marietta. Lunch will be available at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting will begin at noon. Members of Marietta City Council have been invited to attend the meeting to address current city issues and to answer questions that members may have. All Democratic women in Washington County are welcome to attend.
Archery instruction offered to all ages
The Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge and Crooked Creek Archery will be presenting archery instruction from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday for all ages. No registration is needed and walk-ins are welcome. The event will be held at Crooked Creek Archery at 16 Plum Run Road off Route 31 in Williamstown.
