Beverly Council meets Wednesday

The regular council meeting for the Village of Beverly will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the village office. The village’s Board of Public Affairs meeting for September will be held at 5 p.m. Sept. 18 at the village office.

Resume workshops at Marietta library

The Marietta location of the Washington County Public Library, 615 Fifth St., will offer two free resume workshops. The first workshop is from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 17, and the second workshop is from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 18. Registration is required by calling 373-1057, Ext. 208.

No water service around Farson St.

At 5 p.m. today construction crews working on the Belpre Farson Street widening project will shut down portions of the Belpre water system serving the Farson Street area.

System water pressure will be restored as soon as possible. The affected areas may include: Farson Street from Washington Boulevard north to Valleyview Drive; Hanvey Street; Norris Avenue; Bellview Street; Park View Street and Valley View Drive.

There will be a water boil advisory for all customers served by the Belpre water main on Farson Street. The boil advisory begins at 5 p.m. and will continue for 48 hours.

Free flu shots for veterans Saturday

The Marietta City Health Department and the Veterans Administration (V.A.) will be giving flu shots at the Marietta Armory, 214 Front St., between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday The V.A. will be giving free flu shots to all veterans. The Marietta City Health Department will be available to give flu shots to the veterans’ spouses, family and friends 18 years and older. There is a $25 charge and many insurance companies will be accepted.
