Dennis reunion

The annual John Dennis reunion was held Sept. 1 at the Barlow fairgrounds with 58 family members and friends attending.

Prizes were awarded to Wayne Bennett, oldest man present; Mae Stuck, oldest woman present; Eva Stewart, youngest present; George and Elva Rogers, married the longest; most recently married, Jake and Ashley Stewart; most children present second generation, Waynet Mary Lou Bennett; most children present third generation, Brad and Jennifer Reynolds; Calvin and Denise Dennis traveled the farthest. The guessing game was won by Owen Barrett. Door prizes were won by Matt Elder, Jeremy Edgar, Tim Arnett, Brad Reynolds and Butch Arnott. There were no deaths reported. There was one birth and no marriages.

Officers for the 2014 reunion are Milton Baker, president, and Mary Lou Bennett, secretary-treasurer.

The rest of the afternoon was spent visiting having an auction and bingo for the kids.

The 2014 reunion will be held the Sunday before Labor Day at the Barlow Fairgrounds.

Clark-Venham descendants

The descendants of Charles Clark and Anna Leota Rose Venham met at the Barlow Fairgrounds on Aug. 18 for their 58th annual reunion. There were 67 members and guests present.

Everyone enjoyed visiting and reminiscing before the carry-in meal at 12:30 p.m. Meal prayer was given by Robert Clark.

The theme was “Halloween.” Many spiders and other articles were hung around having a scary effect on some. The tables were decorated with candy filled pumpkins, spider rings and various other kinds of candy.

Patty Venham won the candy corn count contest. Bob Venham will receive the oldest Venham member plaque. The adults handed out candy to the little treat or treaters.

There was one death the past year, Carmen Venham Brown on March 17. Donations and food unparishables were collected and delivered to the Western Washington County Food Pantry in memory of Carmen.

There was one marriage and eight births reported. Becky Walker won the prize for most appropriately wrapped gift. The items were auctioned off by Chick Griffiths.

All officers will remain the same.

The 2014 reunion will be held at Barlow Fairgrounds on Aug. 17. The theme will be “Birthday Party.”
