Giveaway Day Friday at Lutheran church

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 401 Scammel St., Marietta, will hold its 12th annual Community Give-Away Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. The congregation is donating slightly used items to be given away for free to those in the community in need. Items include toys, household goods, clothes, books, shoes, etc.

Beekeepers offer class for beginners

The Mid-Ohio Valley Beekeepers’ Association will conduct a beginning beekeeper’s class from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Washington County Career Center. The cost is $10 for MOVBA members, and $15 for non-members. Pre- registration and payment must be received by Oct. 11.

Warren Class of ’73 plans 40th reunion

The Warren High School Class of 1973 will celebrate its 40th class reunion on Sunday at Goodfellows Park. The celebration will start at noon. Those attending should bring their own drink and food.

Marietta tour of exceptional kitchens

Marietta’s Uptown/Downtown Kitchen Tour will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 13. The tour will include exceptional kitchens in four of Marietta’s finest homes and businesses. Guests will sample a different soup and artisan bread at each location. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at any door. Tickets are now on sale at The Betsey Mills Club. Co-op offers tour of Cardinal Station

Washington Electric Cooperative is offering its members an opportunity to participate in a free tour of the power plant that generates its electricity. The tour of the Cardinal Generating Station in Brilliant will be held on Tuesday. A bus will leave from Marietta and will also pick up passengers at a to-be-determined location along Ohio 7. No one younger than 12 is permitted on the tour, and proper footwear and clothing must be worn – no shorts or open-toed shoes. Protective glasses and hardhats will be provided.
