Wanted: Questions for candidates

The Marietta Times and League of Women Voters are seeking questions for election candidates for possible use during the league’s Candidates Night Oct. 15. Races included are Marietta City Council at-large, second ward and president as well as the Marietta treasurer race. The forum will be televised. Switzerland of Ohio board to meet

There will be a special meeting of the Switzerland of Ohio Local Board of Education at 9 a.m. Monday at 304 Mill St., Woodsfield. The purpose of the meeting is to consider the approval of permanent appropriations and to consider approval of Amendment No. 3 to the Agreement for Construction Management Services. There will be no public participation.

Karaoke from 5 to

8 p.m. Sat. at Cutler

There will be karaoke from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Cutler Community Building. Food can be purchased at the canteen. Those participating should bring their own CD.

Saturday benefit at Warren Fire Dept.

A benefit will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Warren Fire Department for Gary Hutchinson, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. There will be music by The Buckeye Travelers and the Remnants, an auction, raffle, bingo, karaoke, a cornhole tournament and cake and pie walk. Food will be available, including hot dogs, sloppy joes, baked beans, macaroni salad, cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, chips and drinks. All donations and profits will go to the Hutchinson family to pay for medical bills.

committee to meet

The Village of Beverly Ordinance, Finance and Insurance Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the village office, 919 Mitchell Ave.

Beverly Methodist Women event

The Beverly United Methodist Women will hold their fall rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 4. The “Bag Sale” will begin at 3 p.m. The Marietta Memorial Bloodmobile will be on site from 1 to 6 p.m. The church is located at 700 Park St. in Beverly.
