MC hires director of financial aid services
Emily Schuck, who has 11 years of experience in higher education, has been hired as the Director of Financial Aid Services at Marietta College.
Schuck, who has served the past six years as the Director of Financial Aid at Washington State Community College in Marietta, was hired for the position following a nationwide search. She succeeds Kevin Lamb, who joined Centre College in Danville, Ky., during the summer.
“After conducting a national search that drew applicants from across the country, we were delighted to find Ms. Schuck,” said Jason Turley, Dean of Admission. “Not only did she bring six years of previous director experience, she is a product of a Marietta College education.”
Schuck earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1997 and a Master of Arts in Education in 2007 – both from Marietta College. She is excited to return to her alma mater.
“Coming back to Marietta College has been like coming full circle. I credit the liberal arts education I received at Marietta for my success in the financial aid field,” she said. “This position requires excellence in communication, technical skills and analytic abilities that I developed during my time at Marietta College. I couldn’t be more excited to step back onto campus and be a part of where Marietta College is headed in the future.”
Schuck began her career at Washington County Children Services in 1997 before joining Washington State in 2001 as the Assistant Director of Admissions. She has also lectured at Washington State on topics related to psychology and criminal justice.
During her time as Washington State, Schuck said she developed the skills necessary to help families navigate the complexities of financial aid.
“Financial aid is a difficult process for many students and families to navigate,” she said. “I hope to bring resources and clarity to the process so that students feel comfortable with their financial aid packages. I want to empower students to make informed decisions about their financial aid options and to understand the impacts of those decisions now and after they graduate.”
Schuck and her husband, Brian, live in Marietta with their children, Kennedy, 12, Courtney, 10, and Addison, 4.
