Vanessa Aileen Ridgway of Pennsboro and Reece Bennett Holtz of Parkersburg were united in marriage on Saturday, July 20, at 7:32 p.m. Pastor Dan Meek of Broadway Nazarene Church of Parkersburg officiated the ceremony. A hand ceremony was performed in place of a unity candle. Pastor Kelly Martin of Pennsboro United Methodist Church conducted a ring blessing ceremony.

The wedding was previously planned to be outside at the bride’s family home. Because of the rain it was held at the Pennsboro United Methodist Church.

The bride is the daughter of Randall and Vickie Ridgway of Pennsboro. She is the granddaughter of Robert and Shirley Ridgway of Pennsboro, and Alvin and Fatima Payne of Dickson, Tenn. She is the 2005 graduate of Ritchie County High School.

The bridegroom is the son of Scott and Marlene Holtz of Parkersburg. He is the grandson of Glenda and the late Franklin Holtz, and the late Dan and the late Sharon Berry, all of Parkersburg. He is the 2005 graduate of Parkersburg South High School.

The sidewalk leading to the church was lined with rose petals and vining petunias. Greeters were Cassie Bohl and Madison Slone, with a brass quintet classical music, performed by Matthew Jennings formerly of Pennsboro, and friends.

The sanctuary was decorated with flowing fabric and candlelight. Vining petunias, surrounded the altar and the middle aisle was decorated with magenta rose petals and a ribbon with dangling crystals tied off the aisle. Acoustic guitar music was played during the arrival and seating of guests by Taylor Sams, cousin of the bridegroom.

The groomsmen were Samuel Holtz, William Holland, Samuel Bruni, William Richardson, Richard Gandee, Cedric Davis, Kenneth Hess, Joseph Holland, Casey Stoneking and Adam Ridgway. The bridegroom, wore a gray portofino tux with contrasting black satin lapels.

The bridesmaids were Emily Perdue, Ginger Bartrug, Danielle Bruni, Sarah East, Sarah Marlow, Megan Snider, Chelsea Holtz, and Emma Holtz. They wore strapless magenta tea length dresses.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white-diamond gown with a strapless fit and flare, a sweetheart neckline, a beaded lace corset bodice and lace-up back. The skirt was made with organza flowers and tulle. She wore a double cathedral length veil, made of tulle, lace and Swarovski crystals. She carried a brooch bouquet of crystals and gems.

A dessert reception was held in the church basement with music by pianist, Jason Wyers, who also made the cake.

Following the wedding, the couple honeymooned in Nassau, Bahamas and now reside in Parkersburg
