Hair-A-Thon Oct. 15 at Career Center
The Career Center’s Adult Technical Training Cosmetology program will host a Hair-A-Thon from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at the school’s location on Ohio 676. Located in the Cosmetology Salon, Hair-A-Thon attendees will enjoy free haircuts and style consultations, free nail polish application and refreshments. Vendors will also be on hand providing samples and promoting their new fall and winter lines. Vendors will include: Thirty One, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Miche Bags, Origami Owl, Parklane Jewelry and others.
The Marietta Welfare League is accepting requests from area clubs, schools, nonprofit groups and other community organizations for its annual donation distribution. Requests must explain who will benefit from the donation and how the money will be used. Applicants should also estimate how many people will benefit from requested donations. Funds may be awarded for equipment, special projects, training seminars or programs. Donations cannot be awarded to pay salaries of employees or to maintain operating costs. The deadline for requests is Oct. 31. Applications postmarked after the deadline will not be considered. Mail donation requests to: Marietta Welfare League, Attn: Nicole Coil, Finance Chair, P.O. Pro wrestling card
at MMS Oct. 12
The Remix Pro Wrestling Throwdown for the Pound 8 will be held Oct. 12 in the Marietta Middle School gym. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the event begins at 7. Proceeds benefit the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley. Tickets are available at We Lov Pets and at remixprowrestling.com
Reno area hydrant flushing planned
The Reno Volunteer Fire Department will be flushing hydrants starting at 6 p.m. Monday. The flushing will start at County House Lane and follow Ohio 7 into the Reno area. After flushing is completed, customers may need to flush their cold water lines.
Red Hat craft
show, bake sale
A Red Hat Craft Show and Bake Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 19 in the Senior Citizens Building, 606 Broadway Ave., New Matamoras. Tables are available for $10.
