Live candidates’ forum on MC TV

A forum with candidates running for Marietta City Council and Marietta Treasurer will be broadcast live from 7 to 9 p.m. today on Marietta College Channel 15. The candidates will respond to questions submitted by local media representatives and the Washington County League of Women Voters.

Democrats’ fall

dinner Friday

The Washington County Democratic Party will hold its Fall Dinner Friday at the Elks Club, 414 Colegate Drive, Marietta. Social hour will be at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30. The cost is $30 per person. The guest speaker will be Ohio Rep. John Patrick Carney, candidate for state auditor. Other guests will include Ohio Sen. Lou Gentile, Ohio Rep. Debbie Phillips, Sixth District Congressional candidate Jennifer Garrison and candidates for local offices.

Benefit pork/kraut dinner at Post 64

The American Legion Post 64 Team will hold a pork, kraut and mashed potato dinner from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the post, Eight and Wooster streets in Marietta. The cost is $8 per person or two for $15. The event is open to the public.

Free meal Thursday at Tunnel church

Tunnel United Methodist Church on Ohio 550 will host a free community meal from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The menu includes turkey, stuffing, green beans and pie. For delivery within five miles of the church, call 374-5634.

Senior luncheon at rec center in Reno

The Marietta Township senior luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Marietta Township Recreation Center in Reno. Those attending should bring a covered dish. Table service and drinks will be provided. The lunch is open to all senior citizens in the area.

Life Line screening at St. Mary Church

A Life Line screening will be hosted at St. Mary Catholic Church, 506 Fourth St., Marietta on Thursday. Screenings will determine risk for stroke or bone fractures. Pre-registration is required.

Local Allohok Council Boy Scouts invite the public to a benefit pasta dinner with a silent auction from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Marietta Township Recreation Center. The cost is for donation only. All proceeds will help offset the costs of the Philmont Trek 2014.
