Support for BrAva event vital in fight vs. cancer

Every day 47 children are diagnosed with cancer. BrAva was created by friends and family of Ava Nichols and Bridget Crock to raise funds for two purposes: to support local families dealing with the overwhelming expenses of treatment and to help fund research so that someday, this disease will go away.

To that end, in the three years since BrAva started, we have helped area families with expenses ranging from gas cards for trips to the hospital, grocery cards, utility payments and more. In addition, we have donated more than $14,000 to CureSearch, for childhood cancer research.

We just completed the 3rd annual BrAva 5K run/walk and Family Fun Day. The committee would like to give thanks to the community for the support and assistance given.

We wish to thank all the runners and walkers who participated in spite of the nasty cold rain, the vendors who came out to support the event, the area merchants that donated items for our country store and silent auction, the Devola Volunteer Fire Dept, the Washington County Sheriffs Dept, the Ohio Highway Patrol, time keepers Jamie and Kelly Tredway, accountant Prieto & Schott, and the following sponsors for their caring generosity: Huck’s Greenhouse, Little Caesars Pizza, CRJ Vending, Advantage Real Estate, Pioneer Civitan Ladies, local IGAs, J.H.Parks Studios, Trademark Solutions, Stephens-Matthews Marketing, Marietta Surgery Center, Grogg’s Heating and Air Conditioning,, S & F Construction, Superior Hyundai Toyota, Tile Creations, and The Connection Day Spa.

A special thank you goes to everyone who continues to keep Ava’s family and Bridget and all children battling this disease in their prayers. Our motto is “Until There Is A Cure”
