Volunteers worked in Oak Grove Cemetery
Marietta Cemeteries Coming Alive (MCCA) participated in National Make a Difference Day on Oct. 26 by working side by side with community volunteers and Marietta College students in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Some volunteers worked to trim back bushes and shrubs that have hidden grave markers for years, while others worked to unearth clogged drainage ditches in three sections of the cemetery. The dirt that was removed was put to good use at the dog park. Approximately 30 tombstones were cleaned with very noticeable results. You can see photos from our work in Oak Grove Cemetery by visiting MCCA’s Facebook page and viewing the photo album.
We wish to thank Pioneer Masonry Supply, Subway, Jim Caporale, Judy Phillips and Dick Bolton for their support, as well as the MCCA members and community volunteers who helped make a difference in Oak Grove Cemetery.
MCCA’s next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 4 p.m. at Marietta College’s Legacy Library. Please join us!
