James ‘Jim’ William Marshall
James “Jim” William Marshall, 71, Marietta, husband of Mary Davis Marshall of 52 years, passed away Monday (Nov. 11, 2013) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Born on Sept. 11, 1942, in St. Marys, W.Va., he was a son of the late Joseph and Ruth Ellen Bills Marshall Sr. He was a 1960 graduate of St. Marys High School, a graduate of Devry Technical Institute and was a member of the Rotonda Elks in Englewood, Fla.
Jim was an Emmy-nominated technical director, working for NBC for 35 years. During his career, he traveled with Sports and News, was a camera man at the March on Washington, and was technical director on “The Cosby Show,” “The Phil Donahue Show,” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” among others. Beginning with the 1964 convention in San Francisco, he covered the presidential elections every four years until his last convention in New York City in 2004. Upon retirement, he spent time fishing at the Devola Dam and throughout Charlotte County, Fla.
Survivors other than his wife include two daughters, Christine Van Sise, Pleasantville, N.Y., and Angela (Chris) Enyeart, Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren, Lukas Van Sise (his father, Will), and Katie and James Enyeart; one sister, Ellen Anderson, Parkersburg; one sister-in-law, Shelby Davis Marshall, Lowell; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Joseph Thomas Marshall Jr.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 14, 2013) at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, W.Va., with Father David Ruppe officiating. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery, St. Marys. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Marietta.
