Food pantry seeks shoebox donations

The Gospel Mission Food Pantry is looking for donations of candy, clothing and small toys for its third annual Operation Backyard Christmas Shoebox. Suggested items include candy, gum, gloves, hats, coloring books, crayons, combs, brushes, little games and stuffed animals. The items will be given to area needy children by Santa at the pantry from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 21. Donations can be dropped off at the pantry at 308 Lancaster St. from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Donations are being accepted through Dec. 13.

Cookie, noodle sale at Basilica’s hall

Basilica of Saint Mary of the Assumption will hold its annual cookie and noodle sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Basilica Social Hall, located at Fourth and Wooster streets in Marietta. This event is sponsored by the Catholic Womens Club, and is open to the public.

Breakfast with Santa at Belpre church

Belpre Heights United Methodist Church, 720 Clement Ave., will hold its annual breakfast with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 7. The event is for adults and children.

Thirty-one Bingo Saturday in Reno

Thirty-one Bingo will be held Saturday at the Marietta Township Recreation Center in Reno, along with a country store, crafts and a yard sale. Bingo starts at 2 p.m. Lunch is served beginning at noon and goes all day. Food served will include homemade chicken noodles and homemade rolls, hot dogs and sauce, soup beans and cornbread. All proceeds will go to Sarah and Bill Miller of Marietta, who are adopting a baby from Children’s Hope International.

The Marietta Goodwill truck will be in different area communities accepting gently used or new clothing, furniture and household items. For dates and times the truck will be in your area, call the Marietta store at 373-1304 between 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday or noon to 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Spaghetti fundraiser at Lawrence school

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Milton Eddy and family will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at Lawrence Elementary School in Dart. There will be a country store and 50/50 raffle. Proceeds will be used to cover medical expenses.
