Board of Elections closed next week

The Washington County Board of Elections will be closed Monday through Friday of next week. The office will re-open at 8 a.m. Dec. 30.

Beverly Council meets Dec. 30

The village of Beverly Council will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Dec. 30 at the village office, 919 Mitchell Ave. The purpose of the meeting is to pay year-end bills and consider budgetary legislation for 2013.

Breakfast with Santa at Boathouse BBQ

Breakfast with Santa will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Boathouse BBQ in Marietta. There will be a pancake breakfast and photos. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. All proceeds go to the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County.

Pet salutes help Humane Society

The fifth annual They Light Up Our Lives fundraiser for the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley will run through December. Animal lovers may honor or remember a pet by buying a light for $5 for the Christmas tree located at American Flags and Poles on Front Street in Marietta. A living pet will be represented by a colored light; a pet that has passed away by a white light. This year an anonymous donor will match the amount collected.

Free meal, clothing giveaway Saturday

A Good Samaritan free meal and clothing giveaway will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Faith United Methodist Church, 503 Seventh St. Marietta.

Fort Frye board to meet in Lowell gym

The location and time of the December regular meeting of the Fort Frye Local school district Board of Education on Thursday has been changed to the Lowell Elementary School gymnasium, 305 Market St., Lowell at 5 p.m.

There will be a finance committee meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday in the principal’s office of Lowell Elementary School.
