WASCO appreciates community’s support

On behalf of WASCO Inc., I would like to thank the many community members who contributed to making our third annual Mardis Gras event such a success. First and foremost, a special thank you to Marietta Mayor Joe Matthews for judging the event along with Joan Zoller, Trademark Solutions, and Jackie Runion, Marietta Times reporter.

The beautiful Mardis Gras cake was donated by Charlene Fronco. The high spirited music was contributed by Marietta High School Band Director Ernie Cornell and featured the talents of the high school band. Carolyn Miller kept the crowd excited performing as a clown. The party was made more festive through the contribution of balloons by Cheryl Lang owner of Unique Boutique.

The MamaLotus Dancers, made up of Sherri Killem, Valerie Kampmeier, Polly Hendrickson and drummer Andy Hall, kept the crowds attention with their belly dance routine during the Mardis Gras Parade. Thanks also to the employees and clients of WASCO for their beautiful floats. Horse Riders Lexi Lannigen and Tanner Reed added to the fun. Sam Anderson and Matt Barton of the Boys-n-Girls Club of Marietta whetted our appetites with a Pork BBQ float complete with a lifesize pig.

Paint for the floats was generously donated by Phil Moore. Roger Forshey, of Rogers Imaging, helped memorialize the event by taking photographs. Event filming was graciously completed by Parkersburg South High School broadcasting class members Bentley Singleton, Callie Anderson, Tyler Cafego and Jessica Fields. Bleachers were provided by Lhan Weppler and Fred Yoho.

The day would not have been possible without our wonderful volunteers Tiffany Cook, Susan West and Carolina Alvarez. Thanks to Westbrook Health Services Inc. Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities division and the students of Ewing School for cheering participants on.
