Chamber, law firm will host seminar

The Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce and the law firm of Bricker & Eckler will host a seminar called “Shale and You: How the Shale Industry can Impact Your Finances.” This half-day presentation is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon Friday at Washington State Community College.

Topics to be covered include: economic impact of the Mid-Ohio Valley region as a result of the shale industry, personal finances and estate planning and how to work with the shale industry.

There is no cost to attend this event, and registration is online. Advance registration for the event is encouraged as seating is limited.

Democratic party spring dinner Friday

The Washington County Democratic party annual spring dinner will be held on Friday at the Elk’s Lodge #477, 414 Colegate Drive, Marietta. The social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30. JoAnn Johntony, the state president of the Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE) will be the guest speaker. Statewide candidates have been invited to attend. There will be a country store, and donated items are appreciated. Tickets for the dinner are $30 per person. Relay For Life team will hold yard sale

Cathy’s Relay For Life team is having a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 1 to 3 at 585 River Road in Devola.

Spaghetti dinner benefit Saturday

A benefit spaghetti dinner will be held for Bill and Teresa Benton from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Barlow Volunteer Fire Department and is sponsored by the Barlow Presbyterian Church. Donations are welcome.
