Copperheads to host competition

The Southern Ohio Copperheads are hosting a free pitch hit and run competition for boys and girls ages 7-14. Pitch Hit & Run is Major League Baseball’s official skills competition.

Players can compete in pitching, hitting, and running categories. The top players will advance to the next round (location and date TBD) and those who advance to the fourth round will get an all expense paid trip to the 2014 MLB All-Star game to compete in the finals.

Those interested need to show up ready to compete at the Marietta Bantam League fields on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Frontier alumni to have golf scramble

The 1969-1989 Frontier Alumni Association will be holding its 3rd annual golf scramble on May 3. Said 4 player scramble will begin at 9 a.m. at the St. Marys golf course in St Marys W. Va. There are cash prizes for the top 3 teams, door prizes, 50/50 and a raffle. The $200.00 entry fee per team includes, a doughnut breakfast, T-shirt, green fares, cart, and a hot meal for lunch. We are selling hole signs for $100.

The 21st annual Cincinnati Reds Legends Youth Baseball Clinic will be held in Marietta June 16-18 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
