New president, CEO at Rumpke

CINCINNATI – Rumpke’s board of directors and shareholders have voted to name William “Bill” J. Rumpke Jr. president and CEO at Rumpke Waste & Recycling, effective immediately.

During his 12-year tenure as chief operating officer, his leadership ensured new developments in recycling and sustainability, along with soaring revenues. From 2002 to 2013, under his direction, Rumpke’s revenues grew by 78 percent.

Rumpke Jr. has spent the last 36 years working for Rumpke. He began his career working as a general laborer, driver and manager before founding Rumpke’s Central Ohio hauling market in 1988.

In 2010, Rumpke Jr. received the Association for Corporate Growth Deal Maker Award. In 2012, he was honored as a South Central Ohio and Kentucky Entrepreneur of the Year. He is a member of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA). Rumpke also serves on the board of the National Waste & Recycling Association.

Rumpke Jr. earned his bachelor of science in general business from Miami University (Ohio). He and his wife reside in Cincinnati and have a daughter and two sons.

Rumpke Jr. replaces his father and longtime president and CEO, William (Bill) J. Rumpke Sr., who is now president emeritus and remains chairman of the board for Rumpke Consolidated Companies, Inc., and president of Rumpke Enterprises, Inc., and president of Legacy, Inc.
