Thanks to letter carriers for successful food drive
On Saturday, May 10, the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive was held. The food collected was distributed to local food pantries in Washington County. A big thank you goes to the National Association of Letter Carriers branch 154 for organizing the drive and collecting the donated food. Thank you also to the residents of the Marietta area and other areas of Washington County for so generously donating canned and boxed food to the drive. Local food pantries survive entirely on donations so community support makes all the difference in achieving our mission of feeding the hungry.
I would like to express my appreciation to the over 40 volunteers who showed up at the Marietta Community Food Pantry and helped unload, sort and shelve the donated food. This group included regular volunteers of the food pantry, MHS Key Club members, the youth groups of Christ United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church, members of First Congregational Church, and friends of the Marietta Community Food Pantry.
The Marietta Community Food Pantry is located at 318 Front St., Marietta. The hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesday evenings, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. If you are interested in donating, volunteering, or would like more information, please call (740) 373-5741 or email email@example.com.
