Frontier Alumni Associations to host joint reunion this weekend

The Frontier Alumni Association classes 1969-1989 will be hosting their fourth annual class reunion on June 13 and June 14. Both evenings will be held at the Comfort Inn on Pike Street in Marietta. Friday night’s mixer will start at 6 p.m. with light snacks, soft drinks or water, cash bar, photo booth and a sound system playing music. Saturday night’s events will also start at 6 p.m. at the Comfort Inn, with a cash bar, class picture, dinner, and the band Fourth Link playing. The Association classes 1969-1989 held their first annual basketball tournament this year. Fifteen teams of both men and women played in the double elimination tournament that was held the weekend of March 7, 8, and 9 in the Hank Morus gymnasium at the Frontier High School. Team sport programs, coaches, alumni, and many others worked the tournament. Monies raised was split among the sport programs that helped run the tournament and the alumni association. With all of our combined efforts, our first of many tournaments to come was a huge success.

The alumni association held its third annual pancake breakfast at the Newport Elementary School, on March 22. This year the group offered pancakes, sausage, and eggs, or sausage gravy, biscuits and eggs.

The third annual golf tournament was held on May 3 at the St. Marys Golf Course, in St. Marys, W.Va.

If you have a senior at FHS in the 2014-2015 school year please have them check with the school guidance department. The alumni will have current scholarship guidelines and applications available. For the past four years the alumni have presented two $500. scholarships. The alumni plan to award two more scholarships in the 2014-2015 school year. Please make sure that if you have or are a FHS senior that you see guidance counselor Holly Cunningham at FHS at the appropriate time.
